It was on a single bed
Next to which your mother read
Stories which directed where
Your feeble mind was led
The stories, they will last
No matter if you complete the task
Of remembering every detail
Vividly, loafing in the past
The tall man spoke about the weather
Cold, nippy nights wrapped in leather
The cough yells 'I'm getting worse'
You sit there writing with a feather
The markets wake up upon the rise
Like the birds, they must be wise
Where are they coming from
Look up into the skies
As you stare into the mirror
Until it becomes your time
Your face is changing into
The origins of your crime
If everything is the same
Then who receives the blame
Is there anything so sure
Reflecting through the frame
Mind meld our souls of three
Someone else be my body
Living vicariously through thee
Anticipating to become free
Looked through a glass to see
Nothing but a mind transcending
Grasping for starved reality
The only thing seen, too afraid to flee
It was on a single bed
Next to which your mother read
Stories which directed where
Your feeble mind was led
The stories, they will last
No matter if you complete the task
Of remembering every detail
Vividly loafing in the past
Lucky sugar dice rolled another time
Was everything, or anything, ever aligned
Watching your hands change shapes
Right in front of your mind
Now it all seems like a dream
Many marvelous moments seem
To be moving you through a portal
But it’s all one continuous stream

You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness." You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.

In our society, those who have the best knowledge of what is happening are also those who are furthest from seeing the world as it is. In general, the greater the understanding, the greater the delusion; the more intelligent, the less sane.
From the moment when the machine first made its appearance it was clear to all thinking people that the need for human drudgery, and therefore to a great extent human inequality, had disappeared. If the machine were used deliberately for that end, hunger, overwork, dirt, illiteracy, and disease could be eliminated within a few generations.
